Chic-Afrique is about finding the balance between the artisinal and the modern. Our concept is aimed to create a functional box that has elements of grit and personality. We wanted to combine natural textures and modern finishes to represent the influence of African design that has become a well known trend. The shell of the box has more organic elements and textures with the finishes representing the modern aspect. We have used a monochromatic colour scheme to let the raw materials create patterns within itself, the black creates a sense of mystery and brings out the quirk. The structure has been designed in opposites with the one panel complementing the shape of the other. It is a design that can be found in the heart of the Karoo or in a penthouse in London, it feels traveled with a hint of nature.
